Question: ,   I am writing to seek help with my Anxiety and panic attacks. My most recent episode started in XXXXXXX before an exam. I am 38 year old living in Australia.   I get panic attack when I notice unusual symptom with my body, I have since have myself checked with doctor to rule out any Heart problem. My doctors have said that it is not heart or physical.   What I know: I have slight variation in BP but doctor says it is normal when I am so anxious. When my anxiety is high, it increases acidity (i am taking medicine for acidity) and when it increases my acidity I feel more symptoms in the body which increases my anxiety further. I would like to get out of this cycle. I would like get help in this regard

Brief Answer:
Break the anxiety cycle

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend. Anxiety and further panic symptoms are exaggeration of fight or flight (FOF) syndrome or FOF Response. Further FOF response is body's natural defense mechanism.

Worry trigger FOF symptoms. These symptoms trigger anxiety, anxiety trigger acidity and panic symptoms. Panic sympotms trigger negative thinking and worry. This worry and negative thinking further triggers FOF symptoms. This is a cycle. You have to break the cycle.

1. Understand and accept these are body's natural defense mechanism, cant do any harm to body or mind. Therefore ignore them and stop worrying.

2. Physical exercise will help relaxation, good sleep and control over acidity.

3. Relaxation breathing exercises and meditation help you calm your body and mind. Calm leads to lesser FOF response.

4. The more you worry about your body the more FOF and the more anxiety and panic and acidity.

5. Accept a competent doctor has checked you and said you are perfectly alright. Don't have further doubts.

If you follow the above steps strictly, you will be alright in less than a month.

Brief Answer:
Mindfullness is best

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend. Thank you for follow up question.

The best method of meditation and breathing is mindfulness meditation. In this you just be mindful on your breathing. Do not try concentrating, but just be aware of your slow breathing.

Don't worry about anxiety or panic attacks. Physical exercise, combined with mindfulness meditation will help you get good sleep.

I have given detailed anxiety, panic attack symptoms, management and cure techniques in my youtube channel named "Psychology for All - Dr KV Anand". Please watch those videos and you will feel releived.

Take care
